The latest information comes from Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis, who recently traveled to Asia with some of his associates to meet with sources in Apple’s supply chain there.

On Monday, they shared some of their forecast for Apple’s 2020 iPhones based on their visit in a research note seen by MacRumors.

iPhone 12 Pro Rumors

Next year’s iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are both expected to sport 6GB of RAM, the analysts said.

That’s up from the 4GB of RAM in the current iPhone 11 Pro lineup — and it should translate to significant performance gains for users.

The analysts also doubled-down on rumors that the 2020 iPhones could pack rear-facing 3D sensing cameras for better photographic and augmented reality capabilities. Past reports suggest that that camera will use time-of-flight lasers to paint extremely accurate 3D depth maps of an environment.

Apple’s base model iPhone 12, next year’s successor to this year’s iPhone 11, will have the same amount of RAM: 4GB.

Interestingly, the analysts said that all three iPhones will be 5G enabled. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will support higher-performance 5G networks, but it isn’t clear whether the base iPhone 12 will support mmWave or a lower band of 5G spectrum.

All three of those iPhones will likely be introduced at a keynote event sometime in September.

iPhone SE 2 Rumors

The analysts also said that the so-called “iPhone SE 2” is still in the pipeline and Apple is already gearing up to start mass-producing it in February.

Despite the name, the iPhone SE 2 is largely expected to resemble an iPhone 8 in terms of form factor. It’ll pack a 4.7-inch display and will retain a Home button and bottom bezels. On the other hand, it’s rumored to pack a much faster A13 Bionic chipset and 3GB of RAM.

Past report have suggested that the iPhone SE 2 will debut in the first half of the year, likely around the March timeframe. It may also retail for $399 — around the same price as past iPhone SE models.
