Apple has sent out invitations for an event on October 16, at which it is expected to roll out a new line of iPads, as well as an update to its desktop operating system OS X Yosemite.
On the invite for the press event at its Cupertino campus in California, Apple says: “It’s been way too long.”
An event will be held in Berlin simultaneously for the European press.
Two new iPads are expected to debut at the event: the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Pro.
The latest Air model will reportedly keep the A8 processor currently used, but will double its Ram to 2GB.
The 12-9 inch iPad Pro, on the other hand, will be bigger, and will use a faster A8X processor that is being used by the iPhone 6.
Apple is also expected to introduce an update to its desktop operating system OS X Yosemite. The desktop computer line hasn’t received an update since June 2013.
With this event, Apple is expected to largely replicate last October’s big press conference, where it rolled out the iPad Air and an iPad Mini, as well as an update to OS X Mavericks.
This new product line is set to launch just in time for the Christmas shopping season.
