July 21 2010 – FujiFilm has announced four new point & shoot cameras, ranging from an 18x advanced zoom to a 16.2mm thick compact.
First up is the FinePix S2800HD, which weighs 15.4 ounces, but offers a very long 15x zoom lens, with a wide angle setting of 28mm. The image sensor captures 14-megapixel images and 720p video, and there is a 3-inch LCD screen on the back of the camera. Priced at $259.95, the S2800HD will be available in September.

The 300EXR is a $329.95 high-end point & shoot that includes a 24mm equivalent wide angle with a long 15x zoom lens. The 300EXR uses a new 12-megapixel Super CCD sensor that includes phase detection auto focus on the sensor itself as well as the more common contrast detection. This, Fuji claims, makes the auto focus faster and more accurate, focusing in 0.158 seconds. The new sensor also offers improved image stabilization, the company claims. The FinePix F300EXR also includes a 3-inch, 460k pixel LCD screen, and can captures 720p video. It will be available in August.

The Z800EXR is a thin (16.9mm) compact model that includes a 3.5-inch touch LCD screen. It takes 12-megapixel images and includes a 5x zoom lens with a 36mm wide angle. Like the 300EXR, the sensor includes both phase detection and contrast detection AF systems, which the company claims helps it focus quicker, especially in low light. It will be available in gold (shown below), matte black, red and shell pink, priced at $229.95 in August.

The JX280 is an ultra-compact model that is just 18.5mm thick. It has a 14-megapixel sensor and a 2.7-inch LCD screen, with a telescoping 5x zoom lens that has a 29mm wide angle setting. The metal body protects it from bumps and scrapes, and it also captures 720p HD video. It will be priced at $149.95 and will be available in August.
